904L super austenitic stainless steel is a low carbon, high nickel, and high molybdenum austenitic stainless steel. It possesses excellent activation-passivation capabilities and superior corrosion resistance. This alloy performs exceptionally well in non-oxidizing acids such as sulfuric acid, acetic acid, formic acid, and phosphoric acid. It also offers good resistance to pitting in neutral media containing chloride ions, as well as resistance to crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
904L stainless steel is suitable for use with all concentrations of sulfuric acid below 70°C. It can also handle acetic acid and mixtures of formic acid and acetic acid at any concentration and temperature under normal pressure, demonstrating outstanding corrosion resistance in these environments.
