310 Stainless Steel Strip

Type 310 stainless steel is an austenitic alloy renowned for its exceptional high-temperature capabilities, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 2000˚F in dry air thanks to its high chromium and nickel content. It exhibits remarkable creep strength, superior oxidation resistance, and forms a robust scale at elevated temperatures. Known for its excellent performance in thermal cycling and surpassing Type 309, this grade also resists sulfidation and carburization in high-temperature environments. Furthermore, Type 310 remains non-magnetic in both annealed and cold-worked states and shares corrosion resistance qualities comparable to Types 304/304L.

What is 310 Stainless Steel Strip?

SUS 304 Mirror 8K Stainless Steel Coil (3)

Type 310 stainless steel is commonly employed in elevated temperature applications due to its high chromium and nickel content, providing robust corrosion resistance, exceptional oxidation resistance, and superior strength at temperatures up to 2100°F. Its elevated chromium and nickel levels render it superior to 304 or 309 stainless steels in most environments.

Alloy 310 coils are also suitable for welding air-hardening steels like armor plate and for welding base metals of unknown composition, as well as dissimilar metals. For intermittent service, 310 stainless steel sheets can withstand temperatures up to 1030°C, exhibiting resistance to scaling and a relatively low coefficient of expansion.

Features of 310 Stainless Steel Strip

Features of 310 Stainless Steel Strip

High Chromium and Nickel Content: Contains high levels of chromium (24-26%) and nickel (19-22%), providing excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance at high temperatures.

High-Temperature Strength: Superior strength and mechanical properties maintained at temperatures up to 2100°F (1150°C), making it ideal for high-temperature applications.

Resistance to Scaling: Exhibits resistance to scaling at elevated temperatures, which helps maintain structural integrity and prolongs service life in demanding environments.

Low Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: Relatively low coefficient of expansion, which reduces the risk of distortion and warping under thermal cycling conditions.

Corrosion Resistance: Offers solid corrosion resistance, particularly in oxidizing and mildly corrosive environments, surpassing that of 304 and 309 stainless steels.
